Can we get latest posts rather than latest threads?

Not sure where to post this, so I thought here was appropriate.

I think it would be easier to follow conversations if you had a latest posts area rather than a latest threads one, but maybe that's just me. Sorry if it's been discussed!

Thanks for the suggestion JR. It's on my list of to-do's, I've just had absolutely no time to work on the website lately.

Hey guys, just uploaded a quick update to the forums. You can view the latest posts on the main Forums page.

I banged it out quick and dirty ... hope it works!

Thanks David. I knew you were a good admin.

Now I'm just being 'that guy...'
Could you add a page select option at the top of the thread instead of just at the bottom, and could we go directly to the last page when clicking on a thread rather than start from the beginning? I'm just thinking ahead to to a time when threads become more than a page or two, that's all.

No problem, JR. These are all good suggestions.

Keep 'em coming.

I'll work on your getting your ideas into the forum.

Last 'that guy' thought for a while...

How about a time and date stamp on the newest threads?

Just to add to the latest posts section, a date and time stamp would be great as it would be more clear to the user if a new post has been added since the last visit to the site. And like ecoustics does, maybe bold the posts since the last visit (you'd need cookies for this I'd imagine). Just a couple more suggestions, Dave. :)

You are correct Dan... a cookie would be required.

I planning another big forum release in the next few weeks. I'll try fit that one in there.

Thanks!

Major forum update was just uploaded today.

I added date and timestamp to the latest posts table, as well as a post count column to the latest threads table, and now clicking on a post in "latest posts" will take you to the last page.

I've also added quoting functionality to posts as well.

Let me know if you guys see any weird issues.

Cool stuff. I just wanted to try out the quote button.

The quoted text is like 10 times the size of the regular text. Makes the regular text look smaller than it really is IMO. Not a complaint, just an observation.

That's weird. Works fine here in all the browsers.

Which one are you using?

Looks fine on my end. Tried it on FireFox, IE and Google. JR are you using Safari on the I-Phone?

Dave, on the iPod touch and safari does show the quote much larger than the post. Just on the regular forum view. Everything else looks perfect. Chrome on the Droid looks good too.

Thanks for the trouble shooting Nick. I guess I'll just have to brute force the font size inside the quote table.

Yup, Safari on my iPhone. That's 99% of my web usage. Don't go through the trouble of changing things. I can live with it.

No worries. I'll fix it. The odd thing is that it looks fine on Safari on an iPad. Go figure.
