Grant Fidelity PC-1.5 Power CordFor the longest time I was a skeptic regarding the value of adding an aftermarket power cord to my setup. My reasoning was that changing to thicker or better quality power cord, when connecting it to the household wiring of 14/2 copper wire, and then to the hydro mains outside the house seemed ridiculous, and counter-intuitive.

I have since tried to revise my thinking and decided to give the power-cord upgrade a go. I went with the Grant Fidelity Performance cord as an experiment, so if I was disappointed with the results, at least I would not be out a lot of money.

The first thing of note when the power cord arrived was the insanely elaborate and ornate packaging of the cord. Inside the sturdy cardboard display box, the cord was lovingly embraced in red velvet. How's that for fancy? The male connector pins even came in plastic sleeves to protect them from defects in transit.

The cord itself is thick 10 AWG (I believe) oxygen free copper, wrapped in an attractive black and green accented braid. Both the male and female connectors are bulky, and appear to be of excellent quality. The transition from connector to cord on both ends are finished off with thick black heat-shrunk plastic.

Did it make a difference? I can tell you with all honestly I noticed an immediate difference when I replace the stock power cord on my Exposure 3010S2. It's hard to place my finger on exactly what the difference was, but it did sound "better". I also tried the cord on my Bryston BDA-1 DAC as well (and the stock cord provided by Bryston is no slouch) and I noticed an improvement here too. The music immediately seemed more liquid. The next thing I tried it on was my Cambridge Audio 840A amp. This is a match made in heaven. The sound fast, with huge imaging and soundstage, quick, accurate bass and a very pleasing, non-fatiguing mid-range.

This is a product that I am definitely keeping and would recommend without reservation. In fact, for the 125.00 dollar price tag it's a no-brainer.

You people are nuts and got screwed. There is no possible way that this cord changed your audio quality in any way. dmitchell, you should have stayed skeptical and saved $125. That's 4 or 5 HD quality audio albums you could own instead.
